Well, we had a great time hunting rabbits on Saturday, even if we only bagged two. I went with my friend Tim and hi son Jason, neither of whom had hunted rabbits before. Jason had never hunted at all. We arrived at about 7:30 AM (I took it easy on the rookies and didn’t makes the crawl out of bed at 3:00, like I would if I were going alone). Within about 45 minutes Jason bagged a jackrabbit, and I shot a cotton tail about thirty minutes later. Then we hit a dry spell, and by 10:00 AM, when the temperature reached 98 degrees, we decided it was time for lunch. At 11:30 we made one more foray into a side canyon, but were driven back by the heat. We finally decided we were the only creatures stupid enough to be out in it and called it a day. Lesson learned: be there at daybreak to find more rabbits and avoid the heat!
